Soroptimist History
The first Soroptimist club was formed in 1922 in Oakland, California.  Clubs formed quickly throughout the U.S.  In 1923, the first European clubs were chartered in London and Paris.  In 1928, the Federation of the Americas was formed and renamed Soroptimist International of the Americas in 1974.  The Federation headquarters are in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  The International headquarters are in Cambridge, England.

Soroptimist International of Middletown was chartered on October 8, 1955.  Our club is part of District II of the Midwestern Region.  Our region includes Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
